The biggest name in ‘Software Testing’ now-a-days, or at least from few years – Selenium. Before you download Selenium first understand “What is meant by Selenium WebDriver?”. Once you are done with it, Download & Install Java Development Kit (JDK) on your Windows system. Additionally you need to Download and Start Eclipse IDE on Windows.
After you are done with this, let’s learn how to download Selenium WebDriver Java Client. As we know Selenium WebDriver supports many different programming languages – this is possible by using language-specific client driver. Since we will be using Java – the most popular programming language – let’s download Selenium WebDriver Java Client.
- Go to the official download page for Selenium. Click on the Download link available for Java.
Note: As of today, the latest version of Selenium Client & WebDriver Language Bindings is 3.0.0-beta2. In order to create scripts that interact with the Selenium Server (Selenium RC, Selenium Remote WebDriver) or create local Selenium WebDriver scripts, you need to make use of language-specific client drivers.
- Save the .zip file ‘selenium-java-3.0.0-beta2.zip’ to your disk. As you will notice, the zip file contains a lib folder, client-combined jar files, Notice and License files.
- Once you have downloaded the archive you will need to extract the zip file. I like to save my working software in root C:/ drive. You may want to extract the archive to the folder where you are maintaining the test artifacts for your project.
- Once the extraction process is complete, Open the ‘Selenium 3.0.0-beta2’ folder. As stated earlier there will be a ‘lib‘ folder, client-combined jar file, Notice and License files. These files are used for configuring WebDriver in Eclipse.
